Deploying web application to aws Iot greengrass

0

I inited a aws-greengrass-labs-local-web-server community component for deploying my web application to Iot aws greengrass. But in the template, I see this: Artifacts: - URI: s3://BUCKET_NAME/COMPONENT_NAME/COMPONENT_VERSION/aws.greengrass.labs.LocalWebServer.zip Unarchive: ZIP I would like to ask whether I must host my website to AWS S3 first in order to build the component? Also, it is a must to download AWS CLI for building a aws-greengrass-labs-local-web-server community component?

Hi,

to deploy the component you have to upload it to an S3 bucket. To build the component the GDK is used which requires the AWS CLI to be installed.

You can find build and installation instructions for the local web server at https://github.com/awslabs/aws-greengrass-labs-local-web-server.

If you do not want to use the described installation you can try to deploy the component locally.

Cheers,
Philipp

Hi,

the README in the repository provides the step by step instructions to install the component and leverages the Greengrass Development Kit (gdk) to publish the component to you AWS account. In particular what you see in the component recipe are placeholders used by gdk.

You do not need to use the GDK or the AWS CLI, as all operations can be done via the console, but you will need to manually perform all the necessary operations, such as zipping your website code, uploading it to an S3 bucket, add the s3 object link to the recipe, etc.
