Website on AWS keeps going offline

0

Hello,

We have a simple website and it's on the us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com. Not a single issue in the past 6 weeks. Now today, it goes offline every 5 minutes. I have to remote start it up. Is that a code issue with my website design or AWS?

Thanks for any direction you can point me in.

Hi,

You have to check the ec2 instance API events in CloudTrail, if EC2 instance is getting shutdown/restarted.
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/awscloudtrail/latest/userguide/view-cloudtrail-events.html

Check the cpu , disk, network and memory utilization (by logging into EC2 instance) of the ec2 instance. Sometimes there is a extra load on the server because of many reasons like memory leak, DDos attack etc. It will show the spike before the applications stop responding.

You have to check the webserver and application server error and access logs . It will give you more insight when the application stop responding and the reason.
here is a very good article to troubleshoot a unresponsive website EC2 instance https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/ec2-instance-hosting-unresponsive-website
