Elastic IP request Regional Internet Registry (RIR) to APNIC

1

I'm creating an Elastic IP in the Tokyo region (ap-northeast-1), but when I check it using the command whois ..., it shows that the IP is under the organization: "Administered by ARIN." I need to change it to APNIC. Is there a way to do this? Thanks a lot!

Ok, I am starting to understand now. The geolocation data of an IP address is mostly independent of an RIR. You don't necessarily need an APNIC-administered IP in order to have an IP address with the geolocation data of Japan.

Both MaxMind and ipinfo.io show that specific IP address in your screenshot as being located in Tokyo.

curl https://ipinfo.io/43.207.10.114
{
  "ip": "43.207.10.114",
  "hostname": "ec2-43-207-10-114.ap-northeast-1.compute.amazonaws.com",
  "city": "Tokyo",
  "region": "Tokyo",
  "country": "JP",
  "loc": "35.6895,139.6917",
  "org": "AS16509 Amazon.com, Inc.",
  "postal": "101-8656",
  "timezone": "Asia/Tokyo",
  "readme": "https://ipinfo.io/missingauth"
}

The testpage.jp site in your screenshot says towards the bottom of the page, that it hasn't been updated since 2018. I would look to more authoritative sites for geoIP data, like the two I mentioned.

Hi sontv. I spoke with our service team about this. At this time, there is no mechanism to allow you to request an AWS-allocated Elastic IP (EIP) from a specific Regional Internet Registry (RIR) like APNIC. AWS Support also cannot assist with this, there is no mechanism.

The only related solution involves a bring-your-own IP (BYOIP) IPv4 transfer, but that's much more involved than requesting a handful of EIPs.

If you can help me understand your use-case, I can work to build a feature request for this. What specifically would an APNIC-registered IP address provide you than an ARIN address could not?

My case is quite complicated; my customer requires an IP address with the country set to JP.
I randomly allocated an Elastic IP and successfully obtained one that is 'Administered by APNIC'. However, when I checked it, the country still appears as US (screenshot attached). Please explain why.Enter image description here
