What are the default retry settings/values for JavaScript SDK V3 clients?

The [@aws-sdk/middleware-retry](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSJavaScriptSDK/v3/latest/modules/_aws_sdk_middleware_retry.html) seems like the part of the SDK that is implementing the retry strategy, but it's not clear to me what its default values are.

* What are the default retry settings/values for JavaScript SDK V3 clients? 
* Is there a "developer guide" type of reference for the `variables` and `functions` of the [@aws-sdk/middleware-retry](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSJavaScriptSDK/v3/latest/modules/_aws_sdk_middleware_retry.html) module?

I think I agree that it's not clearly stated there. However in this Github repo, it says the default_max_attempt is 3. (https://github.com/aws/aws-sdk-js-v3/blob/4e38c611b2ddf5450ca111697d81f6b80889b6cf/packages/middleware-retry/src/config.ts).
