Hello,

There are a few ways to migrate HANA to AWS. You can use the backup and restore method, by taking a backup of HANA DB and uploading it to either an S3 bucket or directly to the EC2 instance. You can also use the classical migration approach or HSR. Please see the below documentation:

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/sap/latest/sap-hana/migrating-hana-tools.html & https://docs.aws.amazon.com/sap/latest/sap-hana/migrating-hana-hana-to-aws.html

I do recommend the HSR (HANA System Replication) approach, as it allows you to prepare the server beforehand. I would also recommend using the AWS Launch Wizard for SAP to install HANA as it ensures the AWS and SAP best practices are in place for the server. For details on LW4SAP, please refer to the following link: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/launchwizard/latest/userguide/what-is-launch-wizard-sap.html

Finally, there is the option to replicate the entire server via CloudEndure, requiring only that you stop HANA before cutover for the final sync. However, I still prefer the HSR approach as mentioned previously, it allows you to prepare the EC2 instance beforehand and validate that all best practices for running HANA on AWS are in place.

Hope this answers your question, Best Regards
