Is VMware SR-IOV supported or recommended on the AWS Storage Gateway appliance?

My Storage Gateway appliance runs on VMware ESXi. Can I simply use SR-IOV with the virtual appliance that I upload as a template?

Enhanced networking on VMware vSphere using SR-IOV is not supported on AWS Storage Gateway. You can leverage the maximum network performance using the VMX Net3 para-virtual adapters.
