SNS for Automation Task?

Question

I know you can set up SNS notifications for Run Command in Systems Manager Maintenance Windows. Does anyone know if this can be done for Automation Tasks? We've set up a backup system that includes creating images of our EC2 instances on a regular basis. It'd be nice to be notified when they are run and if the task was successful or not....

Thank you for your query. While the same functionality is not directly available in Automation today, Automation sends step status and execution status updates to CloudWatch Events, where you can configure a CloudWatch rule to trigger an SNS as target for notifications.
