Domain suspension race condition

Question

I recently transferred several domains to Route 53 from another registrar. All pretty straight forward.

Additional context:
- One of the domains is also my primary email domain. 
- For some reason, I missed the email notification about verifying your ICAAN contact info. Later found it in my email archive.

This morning I received one email from S53 that a domain was being suspended for failure to verify the email. It turns out there appears to be a race condition at S53. I only received one email, even though multiple domains were being suspended. Because the domain they were sending emails to was among the suspended domains. That very first email must have squeezed by before the suspension took place, stroke of luck. Otherwise the business disruption would have been more substantial.

Seems like it has a few flaws:

1) They should send at least one reminder or warning before just turning the domain off hard-core. It's totally human to miss an email on a busy day.
2) If the domain of the email address that is to be verified is also being suspended, then those notifications won't go through and nobody wins. That's programming 1:1
3) Once the domains are suspended, you can use the 'resend link' to actually verify the information, because again it's a catch-22. I had to change the email address to a personal address to get everything back.
4) It may be good hygiene to have an email other than the registered domain, at the same time for a business it's best to use the business domain for the registration.

Consider Email Hygiene: While using a non-business email address for domain registration may be good hygiene to ensure receipt of important notifications, it's also important for businesses to use their primary domain for registration purposes. Route 53 should find a balance between these considerations, perhaps by allowing users to designate multiple contact email addresses for notifications.
