AWS root user without permission to restart Lightsail

0

I have some contracted Lightsail instances, and I had to restart a few. However, I couldn't restart them using my IAM user with the necessary permissions. So, I logged in with the root user of the account, which has all the permissions. When trying to restart Lightsail, I still receive the same error stating that the user doesn't have the required permissions

There could be some issue with the status of your AWS account. Have you contacted AWS Support from Support center?

  • What kind of issue could there be with my account? Unfortunately, the contracted plan does not include AWS support

  • Posted some self-service steps one can take before contacting Support here

Also clarified how AWS Support can be contacted under the Free support plan for Account-related issues in the same.

Please share the error you're getting when you're trying to restart your instances using your IAM user.

  • It just displays a generic message that my user doesn't have access and a generic image of the 403 status.

Hi,

You should have received some communication from AWS about the above type of issues with your account to the email address on the account and|or visible in your AWS Support Center. Please follow the instructions from such communication. The general instructions can also be found here.

After completing those steps, respond to the notification in the AWS Support Center with a confirmation of the actions that you completed.

If you haven't received such communication please contact AWS Support under the free support plan using the Accounts category after having completed the steps above.

Thanks.
