AWS Storage Gateway EC2 High Availability

Question

How can High Availability be achieved when running AWS Storage Gateway on EC2 instances? The documentation mentions HA under VMware environment but no mention on EC2. Concerned on what would happen to the storage gateway service when the EC2 underlying hardware goes bad which happens often throughout our entire AWS infrastructure.

Hi, HA for EC2 environment is currently not available for storage gateway. When there is an underlying EC2 hardware issue, system status checks fails for the EC2 instance. When system status checks fails, you can configure CloudWatch alarm actions to recover the EC2 instance automatically.
