Normally, these options should be available in the dropdown menu when you're editing DNS records for your domain. Could you please provide a screenshot of the section where you're attempting to add the MX and TXT records? For troubleshooting, I recommend following this guide on adding DNS records in Lightsail. Additionally, you might find it helpful to consult this guide on enabling email for your WordPress instance in Lightsail.

When you register a domain in Lightsail, a HostZone is added to Route53, and you can manage the domain in Route53 as well.
MX and TXT records should be set directly using Route53.

The domain is registered in GoDaddy. When setting up Lightsail, I was given the option to manage the domain in Lightsail through a DNS zone. I checked my Route53 dashboard - nothing there.
Since you are using GoDaddy, you must set up DNS on the GoDaddy side.
