Cognito User Pools af-south-1 region issue

Good day,

I was very ecstatic yesterday to find that Cognito user pools was available in south africa (af-south-1), but that happiness soon turned to sadness, my first issue is that even testing it with the hosted UI it kept telling me when trying to login that my username or password was incorrect, even though it is setup exactly the same as my working Cognito user pool in bahrain (me-south-1) which was the closes (ping wise) to South Africa previously.

Another issue I found is that under my already setup AppSync which was already running on af-south-1 region under the settings -> Default authorization mode -> API-level (Amazon Cognito User Pool) -> AWS Region. There is no AF-SOUTH-1 region to select from even though Cognito now exists in the af-south-1 region.

Can someone please advise how I can get these issues resolved?

Hi,

The proper way to get your issues resolved is to open support tickets via the AWS service console: AWS service teams usually don't monitor community sites like re:Post to spot bug reports.

If you open a ticket via AWS console, it will be assigned to a Support engineer who will follow it with you until resolution.

  • Unfortunately, I only have the basic support plan which doesn't allow me to access technical support.

    I ended up making a more generalized account support ticket, hopefully I can get the answers I need.
