Wordpress Theme Options not working as Bitnami Wordpress location is incorrect. How do I fix?

I have a single Bitnami packaged Wordpress instance on AWS Lightsail. I followed the standard instructions to set-up.

I purchased a Wordpress Theme and installed it via Wordpress UI. The Theme Options panel is misconfigured and I cannot enable / disable some features. I contacted the Theme provider who has indicated to me that my "Wordpress Installation is in the wrong place". They pointed out that files which are required for the Theme Options are not where they are expecting.

An example file is located here: https://<my website>/wp-content/bitnami/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/<rest of file path>

But they are expecting it to be here: https://<my website>/wp-content/plugins/<rest of file path>

Has Wordpress been installed in the wrong place (why are there two wp-content folders????)? What are my options to fix it. Wordpress is functioning fine, and the rest of the theme and other plugins appear to be working so how can I get the Theme Options to work?
