NotifyWorkers privacy

0

I'm using the NotifyWorkers API call to send a mass email about an issue in a HIT I posted recently. The HIT was a research study, so the privacy of the participants needs to be preserved -- i.e., it's important that in a mass email, workers can't see each other's IDs. Does anybody know if NotifyWorkers does bcc, or in some other way hides the recipients list from recipients? Thank you!

Hello!

The NotifyWorkers operation sends a message directly to a Worker, it doesn't BCC other Workers in the message that you send. However, please note that when you send a message to Workers, your email address will be provided to them as a source of the message. They will be able to reply to that email from their own email address if they choose to.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact our support team (https://support.aws.amazon.com/#/contacts/aws-mechanical-turk).

Thank you so much for the quick and helpful response! To clarify: passing in a list of workers results in an individual email being sent to each one?

Hey again!

passing in a list of workers results in an individual email being sent to each one?

That's correct; the message won't be sent as an email blast like you'd expect through an email provider with a bunch of recipients in a single email. You're essentially running a command saying to send a message to an individual Worker, but having that command repeat for each Worker you've listed.
