Why is Austria's TLD (.at) still not supported on Route53?

4

Austria is a nice little country in the heart of Europe - still there's no way to run .at Domains on Route53.

Could you please explain why this is the case?

There's already a lengthy thread on the old forum about that issue: https://forums.aws.amazon.com/message.jspa?messageID=898894

we would also like to transfer our .at domain to AWS Route 53. Is there already an ETA?

  • .wien is supported though. This is real strange.

Thank you so much for reaching out to AWS,

I regret to inform you that AWS, unfortunately, does not currently support registering '.at' domains with Route 53. The list of domains that can be registered with AWS Route 53 can be found in this official article: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/registrar-tld-list.html#registrar-tld-list-generic-a

You can keep an eye on AWS news blogs to learn about new services and features as we release them

However, you can still make use of Route53 service as a DNS provider by creating a 'Hosted zone' for your domain. In this way, the domain will continue to be registered with your current registrar, but the DNS resolution, records creation and Name servers will be based out of Route 53. You can read more about it in this official AWS documentation https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/migrate-dns-domain-in-use.html

If anymore questions pertaining to this question arise, don’t hesitate to reach out. I hope this helps!
