@C_River: To calculate the Carbon Footprint of AWS services, you can use the new Customer Carbon Footprint Tool. It can help you track, measure, review, and forecast the carbon emissions generated from your AWS usage.

@ZT: Thanks for this idea! We’re constantly getting feedback from customers on where they would like the next AWS Region and we have a list of locations that we are looking at. We're always re-evaluating and reprioritizing that list and we continue on our path to powering our operations with 100% renewable energy by 2025.

I missed the twitch yesterday. I was wondering if there is a way to calculate the carbon print of AWS services and if there are tools and best practices.

I live near Alicante and work for a Swiss company that has many AWS Cloud customers that we manage. Now I find this topic super important and I have an idea. Amazon building , expanding warehouse in Alicante which has 320 sunny days a year. Why AWS dont want to build a datacenter here too. Near the coast the water wells are giving cheap salty water which not good for agriculture but perfect for cooling system, also constant wind near the coastline. Feel free contact me for more info.
