I get an error when I enter my MFA code to login to AWS console. The website then asks for my password again, and then I enter my MFA code after entering my password. This process repeats a few times and then it logs into the console automatically while still showing error.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your MFA authentication when logging into the AWS Management Console. This could be happening for a few reasons:

  1. Your virtual MFA device might be out of sync with AWS. Virtual MFA devices can sometimes go out of sync, which causes the codes to be rejected even when they appear valid on your authenticator app.

  2. When this happens, AWS typically provides an option to synchronize your MFA device during the login process. The system may be automatically attempting to resynchronize your device after multiple failed attempts, which could explain why you eventually get logged in despite the errors.

  3. Time settings on your device where the authenticator app is installed might be incorrect. MFA codes are time-based, and discrepancies in time settings can lead to invalid codes.

To resolve this issue, you can try:

  • Ensuring your device's time settings are correct and synchronized with a reliable time source
  • Resynchronizing your MFA device through the AWS console once you're logged in
  • If the problem persists, you might need to remove the current MFA device and set up a new one

If you continue to have problems, you may need to contact AWS Support for assistance with deactivating the problematic MFA device and helping you regain consistent access to your account.
