"Access denied for operation 'AWS::QuickSight::Analysis'."

0

Hello,

When using the cloudformation template in this blog, I receive access denied when the Amazon Quicksight analysis is to be created using the AWS provided template ARN: arn:aws:quicksight:us-west-2:111530706466:template/testconnectquicksight-CtrTemplate

I tried using the CLI to describe template and list templates from that account but neither work. Is this template still available for use?

Hello, I hope that you are well. Please be informed that I was able to follow the blog and successfully create a Cloudformation Stack using this template. I first downloaded the template to my local machine the deployed it Cloudformation. The template creates one resource of Type:' AWS::QuickSight::Analysis' that has the logical name "QuickSightAnalysisCtr".

Please kindly note that 'Access Denied' errors indicate underlying permission related issues. Access Denied errors can be caused by multiple factors such as the Role missing the required permissions to create a QuickSight Analysis resource. Please also take a look at the following document to learn more about troubleshooting Access Denied errors.

I would also suggest that you check CloudTrail for any failed "CreateAnalysis" API calls/events. Please kindly refer to the following document to learn more about how you can review CloudTrail Event history using the CloudTrail console or the AWS CLI. For further analysis of this issue I would suggest that you open a support case with the Cloudformation team so that we can investigate the issue in depth by checking the affected resources.

Hello,

I encountered the same issue, and it seems to be linked to the Quicksight edition you're using. Initially, when attempting the steps with a standard edition, I encountered the same error. However, after upgrading to the Enterprise edition, I was able to follow the blog instructions without encountering significant difficulties.

It appears that the issue may be related to the usage of templates in a standard edition. According to the blog, the Enterprise edition offers additional features, including templates for repeatable dashboard creation and management. So I'm assuming the standard edition does not support the usage of templates

Also, to precisely follow the steps outlined in the blog you are referring to, using an Enterprise edition is necessary, as the instructions reference features like user groups, which are exclusive to this edition.
