Change Access type for an IAM user

0

Hi all,

When I create a user in IAM, I have the choice of Programmatic access or AWS Management Console access. I can tick both boxes and creation time of course.

If I have a user that has 'AWS Management Console access', is there a way to also give them Programmatic access after the account has been created?

Thanks.

Hello,

It is very simple to add programmatic access to a user after it has been created. To do this

  • Visit the IAM console
  • Navigate to the "Users" page
  • Find the user you wish to grant programmatic access to, select the user, which will open the details page for that user.
  • Open the "Security Credentials" tab
  • Click "Create Access Key"

The user can then use the access key to access AWS programmatically.

Hope that helps.
