Root account transferred to closed email address - stuck in a catch-22 with no access to PRODUCTION account

Root access for our production website was unwittingly transferred to an account that was closed previously. I'm shocked Amazon would allow root access to be transferred to a blocked account. Amazon support wont deal with the issue until we log in an submit a support case - but we cannot submit a support case using a closed account! It's a catch 22 which we've be trying to resolve with Amazon for a few weeks now

When was the previous account closed? Within 90 days of closing your account, you can sign in to your account and log a support case.
