EB instance Degraded after Platform update

Question

EB instance Degraded after Platform update  
  
I got a notification from AWS that my platform needed an update, my lead Dev has done the update on our Staging server, but the instance is now **Degraded** with the error **Following services are not running: proxy**  
  
Returning to the older version, restarting app server and rebuilding the environment didn't help.  
  
What steps to rectify this? Is it an application error or a server error, we're struggling to find the cause

Answer

Turns out the answer was to recreate the new environment a second time, after the update, creating the new environment using the existing code. It then automatically set the latest platform version
