What will be pricing after lowering number of CPUs while creating ec2 instances?

While launching a new ec2 instance; there is an option to reduce the number of CPUs and threads. I need to find out what will be the pricing for ec2 then?

e.g. I am creating an instance type a1.4xlarge (16, 32 GiB) which will cost $0.408 on-demand. But if i reduce the CPUs to let's say 12 or 8 with same 32 GiB memory; then what will be the pricing?

EC2 instances are priced according to instance type, regardless of the number of CPUs enabled. Disabling vCPUs does not change the cost of the instance type.

The instance cost is fixed per hour cost depending on the type you have chosen. So it will be 0.408/hour regardless if you disable all CPU or don't use the instance, if its powered on you will be billed for it.

You can utilize spot instances or Saving plans to reduce the per hour cost, but keep in mind the caveats of those. e.g Spot instances can be terminated by AWS on 60 seconds notice, so make sure your workload can handle that termination.
