Bill payment using credits added after bill generation

0

Hi, I missed to add the credits to my account prior to bill generation. Is there a way to make the payment using the credits now? Can I encash the credits to my personal bank account and then pay the bill? If not, what is the alternative?

Short answer is no, you've missed out here :-(

See the opening two sentences of https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/credit-previous-month

After an AWS bill is finalized at the end of a billing cycle, the bill can’t be updated. This includes applying additional credits to your usage.

From here, the best thing to do is ensure that sufficient credits are in place before the end of the next billing cycle.

  • I have a supplement question. Does the bill amount get accumulated month after month - meaning the bill of Jan 2024 if unpaid will be added to the bill of Feb 2024? If so, I can wait for the next billing cycle for the accumulated bill, ensure sufficient credits are there in my account and make the payment.

  • AWS will take payment for your Jan 2024 bill at some point during Feb 2024, using your nominated payment method, and the bill will certainly be cleared before the invoice for Feb 2024 is generated.

If you payment is not made (e.g. payment method declined) then you could be penalised https://aws.amazon.com/agreement/

    3. Fees and Payment.

3.1 Service Fees .... We may elect to charge you interest at the rate of 1.5% per month (or the highest rate permitted by law, if less) on all late payments.

.... and/or your account could be suspended ....

4.1 Generally. We may suspend your or any End User’s right to access or use any portion or all of the Services immediately upon notice to you if we reasonably determine:

    (c) you are in breach of your payment obligations under Section 3

if your account is suspended, you can still get it reinstated but would have to pay the outstanding fees (with interest). Probably not worth it just to try to save a few dollars.

  • My question is - will the bill for Jan, if unpaid, be added with service charges to the bill of Feb? If that happens, I will add sufficient credits to my account before generation of Feb bill and that will settle the bills for both Jan and Feb.

  • will the bill for Jan, if unpaid, be added with service charges to the bill of Feb?

It might be, or your account might be suspended (or worse) because of non-payment.

The Ts & Cs for AWS Credits https://aws.amazon.com/awscredits/ are pretty clear that they're intended to be used to cover fees and charges for eligible AWS services, and not for payment of overdue debts.

But if you still want to pursue this line of thought I'd suggest logging a billing support call with AWS directly at https://support.console.aws.amazon.com/support/home#/case/create?issueType=customer-service
