I created a user in Amazon WorkMail, confirmed the domain and followed all the suggested steps. I added "MX 10 inbound-smtp.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com" to the domain's settings. I also configured SES with the same domains. I wanted SES to send emails from the user I created in WorkMail.
Test emails are being sent through the interface, but it's been 2 days since the domain records were updated, and I still can't send emails to the created mailbox. I receive a bounce-back email with the following error:
Final-Recipient: rfc822; user@mysite.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.1.1
Remote-MTA: dns; inbound-smtp.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com (54.155.140.59, the server for the domain mysite.com.)
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.1.1 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable
Last-Attempt-Date: Wed, 08 May 2024 16:13:57 -0700 (PDT)
From the response, it's evident that the sending is happening correctly to inbound-smtp.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com, but "mailbox unavailable" indicates an issue on Amazon's end.
Where should I look? Everything is set up according to all recommendations, but I don't understand what's wrong. The SES Recommendations for xxxxxx.xx show nothing and indicate everything is okay. Custom MAIL FROM domain is also configured as "mail.mysite.com.
