How to use today's date in a conditional branching

Before answering my customer in my Amazon Lex bot, I want to check today's date. Then depending on if it's weekend or outside of my business hours, setting different messages for the question.

I've been trying to use the session timestamp as parameter in my conditional branching, but it doesn't work. Any suggestions to accomplish my goal? Is there any way of doing it without using a lambda?
