Route 53 to EC2 connection not working

So I've followed everything I can find online about how to connect my domain name to my server's IP address via route 53 and EC2. From what I find my connection is set up correctly. In route 53 I've gone to my hosted zones and created a new record set. Type A using my elastic IP address for the value. I am able to access my server through the browser by simply putting the elastic IP address in; however, the domain is not connecting to that elastic IP address and I don't know why.

Did you ever solve your problem? I also had the exact same problem. My solution was that I needed to change the DNS names for my domain in the Registered Domains section to match the DNS names that were created when I made the Hosted Zone.
