I have a 500Mbps hosted Direct Connect. Is there a way to connect this to Transit Gateway?

The short answer is not directly.

Long answer only on 1Gbps or above Hosted Connections. It does require a new type of VIF called Transit VIF where the limit kicks in.

Q: What is transit virtual interface?

Transit virtual interface is a type of virtual interface you can create on any AWS Direct Connect 1/2/5/10 Gbps connection. Transit virtual interface can only be attached to a Direct Connect gateway. You can use the AWS Direct Connect gateway attached with one or more transit virtual interface to interface with up to three AWS Transit Gateways in any supported AWS Regions.

Here is a blog post about how to connect over a sub-1Gbps hosted connection using AWS Site-to-site VPN.

AWS Direct Connect now supports connections to AWS Transit Gateway at speeds of 500 megabits per second (Mbps) and lower. https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/networking-and-content-delivery/integrating-sub-1-gbps-hosted-connections-with-aws-transit-gateway/
