Is it possible to directly transfer data via p2p DMA from one of the NVMe SSDs to/from the FPGA?
In a non-cloud environment, it does work if your PCIe root complex / PLX switch supports peer-2-peer PCIe thanks to the p2pDMA driver. https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/driver-api/pci/p2pdma.html
I would like to evaluate if such a setup could work in an AWS f1 instance.
Hi There,
AWS f1 instance does not support P2P between NVMe and FPGA.
Thanks, Sunil.
I know this question is answered five years ago. First, is it still the case that AWS f1 instance does not support P2P between NVMe and FPGA? If this is still the case, I would like to understand the reasons behind this since P2P is supported in general (https://github.com/awslabs/aws-fpga-app-notes/blob/master/Using-PCIe-Peer2Peer/README.md).
