Is the 1MB maximum request body size for a Lambda target in ALB a hard limit or can it be raised if a customer use case warrants it?

The 1MB max size for the request body cannot be changed.

Also do note the header limits for ALBs which are also hard lmits:

HTTP/1.x headers

Request line: 16 K

Single header: 16 K

Whole header: 64 K

HTTP/2 headers

Request line: 8 K

Single header: 8 K

Whole header: 64 K
