Why does Aurora storage sizing use Tebibyte vs Terabyte?

A customer wants to know why Aurora Storage uses Tebibyte vs Terabyte? example this url https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/whats-new/2020/10/amazon-aurora-enables-dynamic-resizing-database-storage-space/ says The storage space already automatically increases up to a maximum size of 128 tebibytes (TiB) vs 128 Terabytes?

This is a common standard when it comes to defining units of storage (not just in AWS).

It's from a third party (that happens to be a partner), but there is a good overview on the differences and how it all came about here: https://blogs.vmware.com/virtualblocks/2020/12/09/storage-units-within-vmware-cloud-on-aws/. There is lots of literature on this subject out there.
